Welcome to the 2024 season of CompNet! Gracie Barra’s competitors from around the globe will showcase their Jiu-Jitsu expertise and live unforgettable moments in over a hundred tournaments this season.
This event is typically one of the most prestigious tournaments in the BJJ and Gracie Barra calendar. Being the last event of the year, it often serves as a culmination of the entire season, with competitors eager to make a final mark before the year ends.
1. Points System: With three times the normal points awarded, this event can dramatically change the rankings. Athletes who are close in points will have a chance to leapfrog their competitors, making for intense matches.
2. Categories and Divisions: The tournament features nine weight divisions for kids and adults plus the open division(absolute) for adults blue, purple, brown and black belts. Age divisions go from tiny champions at 3 years old to Master 7 for adults who are 61 years old or more. This allows for a wide range of participants and matches, creating an inclusive atmosphere.
3. Competition Format: The event will include Gi divisions. Matches are structured in a way that leads to exciting finals.
4. Community and Networking: Beyond the competition, events like this often foster a sense of community among practitioners. Athletes, coaches, and fans can network, share experiences, and celebrate the sport together.
5. Spectator Experience: For spectators, the atmosphere is electric, with high-level grappling, strategic maneuvers, and the chance to see top-ranked athletes in action. Many events also feature vendors, seminars, and other activities that enhance the experience.
6. Awards and Recognition: In addition to individual medals, team trophies are often awarded, adding an element of camaraderie and competition among academies.
Given the significance of this event, it’s a great opportunity for athletes to not only gain recognition but also to reflect on their progress over the season.
The gates open at 7:30 am, and the tournament begins at 9:00 am. A detailed event schedule will be released a few days prior to the tournament.
